Why CD Mastering?
Whether you're making a demo to send out to a major label or for a local project or even just a CD for friends & family, you really want it to sound as great as you imagined it would. Unless you have the the proper tools and experience of a mastering engineer, what usually happens...?
You've got a great mix and it's really thumping good on your studio monitors. You burn a test CD and play it on your home stereo and there's way too much low end. How did that happen? Maybe you need to add a good sub to your studio monitors... So you try it again and now there are too many highs. The vocals sound brittle and the bass is whimpy. So you try it again. Finally you get it sounding pretty good on the home stereo. Great! So you go for a ride & play it on the car stereo. One more time you say, "What the heck happened? It's not even close to sounding right!"
With good mastering you don't have to worry. Your CD will sound great played on everything from your studio monitors to a boom box. So no matter who you send it to, no matter what they play it on, it's going to sound full and harmonically ballanced.
From demos, to full production CD's. From publishing to mastering.
